Gas Metering System

Similar to liquid systems, gas measurement systems are designed to calculate the volume or mass of gas flowing through a pipe. Measurement systems generally consist of a primary element (the flow meter) and a series of instruments for compensating for variable gas conditions (such as temperature, pressure, and gas composition). The most commonly used flow meters in recent years are ultrasonic meters, which offer precision and reliability over time. Other types of meters, such as turbine or calibrated orifice meters, can be used in special cases.

An important difference with liquid systems is the need for gas conditioning, which includes filtration to remove solid particles and liquid droplets, and pressure regulation to ensure that the gas is measured under ideal conditions. These systems are often used in refineries, storage plants, and extraction platforms, where they must withstand harsh environmental conditions.
